My approach knows this about you - I know you like to work hard, once safety has been established

I know you want to be pushed, but with gentle and thoughtful coaching that makes sense for YOUR body - not squish you into the mould that “should fit” but doesn’t feel so good

I have many studies and years of experience under my belt, and I’ll use what makes sense for the person in front of me, with the ability to adapt on the spot where needed.

You can be confident that sessions are designed specifically for you, considering any current or previous injuries and other needs, as well as planning sessions in a way that I think you will find fun and look forward to each week.

Oh, and the “diet culture thing”. Let’s talk about it

Let’s start out by saying, I don’t tend to talk much about body shape and size in my sessions - because unless you bring it up, there are SO many other things in the realm of health and fitness that we can talk about and work on

Put simply - you likely get told or sold some form of “you should lose weight” messaging hundreds of times a day. You don’t need it from me too.

That being said - I know that for many women, changing how your body looks IS a desire, and I’ll also always respect that, if that’s important to you.

The difference is, when we approach changing our body with our health in mind first

To me, this means being mindful of your body image and not being willing to compromise on your mental health in pursuit of “goals”

With this approach, we can find a path that feels both successful and sustainable, and doesn’t destroy your self confidence in the process.

As a Certified Health Mindset Coach, I’m able to help you uncover your personal deep internal motivation and work on the mindset and habit related skills that take a fitness and health journey from feeling like more rules to feeling deeply nourishing.

Personal Training is for someone who is ready to commit to change in a specific area, or with a specific goal in mind.

  • Recovering from an injury - after you have been discharged from physio - to get back to sport, running recreational activities and living your full life without hesitation or worrying about your injury.

  • Personalised strength and conditioning to excel at your sport or hobby, or just feel more connected and strong in your movement

  • Training alongside a long term health condition, such as hyper mobility, diabetes, high blood pressure, or a disability. Training will respect you as an individual, and respect your condition without aiming to cure or “fix” it.

  • Training safely during pregnancy, including physical preparation for birth and building resilience to aid smoother post natal recovery.

  • Post natal personal training to recover from pregnancy and childbirth in a private and tailored 1:1 environment.

Personal Training would suit you if…

  • You are not fussed about how your body feels and functions, and would prefer to be on a strict plan focussed solely on losing weight

Do you help with nutrition?

Yes - I’m a qualified nutrition coach with Precision Nutrition and there are two ways we can approach this.

If you are seeking general advice alongside personal training, we can discuss it within sessions and you can action it yourself outside of sessions. This works best if you just need a few pointers and are finding it pretty manageable to make these things happen in your day to day life and habits.

Often though, I find that we can underestimate the challenge of changing these habits that we’ve had for years and so a more structured approach to nutrition and mindset is where you’ll see significant shifts in your habits, self compassion and because of that, the results you’re able to achieve.

If you think you’d benefit from more of a detailed plan, with more intentional mindset, habits and nutrition coaching along the way, then you can add on nutrition and mindset coaching to your coaching package for £100/ month which will be delivered online, so sessions can remain focussed on the movement part.

Our Process

Everything you need to Know about Personal Training

  • Session times will be agreed at a time that works for the both of us. Sessions are paid for in blocks of 6 or 12 sessions, to be used within the agreed time frame.

    After a discovery call, you’ll be invited to an initial consultation where I will get to know you, what you want, and how you move. You’ll also be able to get a feel for how I coach and ask any questions you have, and hopefully learn a bit more about how you move and how personal training can help you.

    From there, we’ll be able to see what plan and commitment will be most beneficial to help you reach your goals and decide on next steps.

  • Personal training sessions take place in our private studio in Bassaleg, Newport. We’ll be the only ones in the space, so sessions are truly yours to enjoy without worrying about anyone else around you.

    We’re in the lanes between Bassaleg and St Mellons, near Michaelston-y-Fedw. The studio is on private land so if you’re wondering why you’ve never heard of it before, that’s probably why!

    Once you’ve been here once, it’s super easy to find. But it can feel daunting to find us the first time and so when you sign up, you’ll receive more detailed instructions on how to find us!

  • Sessions are £65 and run for one hour, and sessions are booked in blocks of 6 or 12. If buying a 12 session pack you will receive a £60 discount (£5 off per session).

    Most clients will train between 1-3 times per week, and I find 2 sessions is where most clients feel most sustainable, but it entirely depends on your goals and your starting point. I would rather someone trained 1-2 times per week consistently than aim for 3 and feel overwhelmed by the schedule.

    You also get access to short no-equipment home workouts you can do in your own time to support our training and get even more out of your learning.

  • Yes! For the daytime sessions, many mums bring their babies and they really enjoy looking at the birds out of the big window, or playing with the other little ones.

    Sessions can be modified if they are fussy or want to be held constantly, and I encourage them to go wandering and be curious! Babies and toddlers are not expected to stay put, or stay quiet - as a mum to a very active toddler I know that’s not always possible! We also have ways to baby-proof and toddler-proof the “dangerous” parts of the equipment if we need to. I’d love for you to bring them along!

  • I am not a physio, and so there is a natural scope of practice that I respect. If you are going about daily activities, and your goal is to feel generally better or to return to more intense activities like running or sport with better function, strength and confidence then this is something I can likely help with. There may be instances where I feel a physio or other health professional is more suitable for your needs, in which case I will refer you to someone I trust.

    If you’re unsure, I’d love for you to book a discovery call with me. I’ll tell you honestly if I think it’s the right place for you to get started, and if it’s not, we can find a more suitable option.

  • This depends on your goal. If you are seeking strength or toning, this will take 3-6 months of consistent training to start seeing results.

    If we are working on mobility, pain or something in that realm - it’s really variable. Sometimes you can notice a change in one session, but it will take 3-12 months to feel like your issue is fully resolved.

    The body needs regular, thoughtful inputs in order to make healing that area a priority.

    Often though, your enjoyment of learning about your body and the feel-good endorphins released from moving your body will be noticeable as soon as you start and this can motivate you to continue until you reach your end goal!
